Network design is a crucial activity in building modern, reliable, and secure infrastructure. For this reason, military networks are often hybrid, consisting of wired, radio, satellite, and mobile segments, capable of self-configuration and rapid recovery. The design must include mesh networks and distributed architectures capable of maintaining operation even in the event of a partial failure or attack.
Security is key: every network node must have advanced encryption, intrusion prevention systems, and multi-level authentication. Furthermore, the network must be able to operate in scenarios of computer blackouts or electronic warfare, with the ability to operate autonomously locally.
Network design for the military sector cannot ignore a “zero trust” approach, in which every device and connection is continuously verified, and every data flow is tracked and protected.
